Let’s find a natural way to get them back to where it all began. Maybe some of them never left: Maybe Brittany, the secret math genius she was, is teaching at a local university. And perhaps Blaine and Kurt have settled in a nearby Midwest town and are micro-influencers for their growing antique collection.
Rachel Berry is the trickiest to crack, and as such will be the engine of the show. I think it’s fine to keep her as a Tony-winning diva, who gets run out of New York for bad behavior—maybe she’s caught poisoning her competition before a final callback for a site-specific production of Rent in the East Village—and winds up back at home, Tony in hand, tail between her legs and demanding to be the coach of New Directions. Imagine what a nightmare she’d be as a show-choir director.
That being said…
We Don’t Need Everyone to Come Back
Glee had so many cast members and guest stars over the course of its six-season run that it would be impossible to try to get them all back for the revival. Plus, sadly, they aren’t all still with us to return. There are some truly devastating losses from the original Glee cast (RIP Cory Monteith and Naya Rivera), and some deeply disturbing ones as well (the less said about Mark Salling the better). Figuring out who should come back is easier said than done.
