Wood to ‘defend’ charges

Wood, who lives in Melbourne, had been on holiday in Noosa when the alleged attack took place.

He appeared before Maroochydore Magistrates court on Monday and remains behind bars on remand.

“He’ll be defending the charges and will be back here on Thursday to run the bail application,” his lawyer Mathew Cuskelly said outside court.

On Monday morning, Wood and wife Snezana issued the same brief statement on their Instagram story.

“This is a difficult time for all of us, we are working through this as a family and thoroughly co-operating with the authorities,” said the statement “from the Wood family”.

The couple met on the reality TV show, The Bachelor, in 2015 and tied the knot in Byron Bay in November 2018.

The charges against Wood carry a maximum sentence of up to seven years behind bars.
