Ryan Fox shared that he is in disbelief at winning The Open, saying it is “a dream come true”.
The New Zealander shot a 68 in the final round to go with his 62 the day before, helping him beat Cameron Young by one shot.
His birdie at the last won the championship for the 39-year-old, describing the feeling and moment of holing the putt as “unbelievable”.
“I still don’t know what to think. My nerves are all over the place. I’m not quite sure how I hit that putt on 18,” he said.
“It is a dream come true. Looking at this trophy now, it’s the first time I’ve seen it up close, so this is a dream come true.
“I was really happy. I said to my caddie through six or eight holes: ‘I feel a lot better than I thought I would now. I played really solid early and then hit some great shots down the stretch.
“To play that last hole like I did. I stood on the 18th tee and said to my caddie: ‘We’re going to try to win this’. I hit two perfect shots.
“I’m not sure how I hit that putt; my hands were all over the place. It’s surreal it went in.

“Champion Golfer of the Year’s got a pretty good ring to it,” he told Sky Sports.
Fox continued: “Everything is shaking. I’m not quite sure how I hit it straight. As soon as I saw it tracking to the left edge, I thought: ‘This has got a chance!’
“I was happy it was the right speed, and I wasn’t going to make anything coming back. I don’t really know what I was thinking then. I couldn’t believe it really.
“That putt is a lot easier to hit on a practice green than it is in real life. I was trying to take as many deep breaths as possible to hit that putt.”

Fox’s wife and kids are currently in Miami, Florida, with the New Zealander sharing that his children told him to “bring the trophy”.
He said: “I spoke to my wife and kids and mum and dad. I don’t know if my dad would be able to contain himself when I was coming down the stretch.
“He’s never been one that has been very good if he doesn’t have control over things.
“I think when he was playing and in control of the output, under pressure he was fine.
