The rural local body polls are likely to be announced around December 15, Minister Satish Jarkiholi said on Monday.
He told reporters that the notification for the Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayat elections was expected around the second week of December.
The winter session of the State legislature at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi was advanced to ensure that it does not interfere with the election process. It was also advanced as legislators need to focus on their constituencies and election campaigns, he said.
