Rugged cliffs, tropical foliage and endless beaches

Set against the turquoise waters and lush hillside landscapes of Koh Samui, Thailand, Yashvi Yagnik and Hrutik Shah’s wedding celebrations brought together the vibrancy of Indian festivities and the understated elegance of a classic English wedding. Planned by WeddingSutra Favorite – 77 Weddings, the celebrations featured refined décor, thoughtful details and immersive guest experiences, all designed to complement the resort’s spectacular setting.

“At 77 Weddings, we wanted to move beyond the more conventional destinations in Thailand and create something distinctive in Koh Samui. Its serene beauty, exclusivity and privacy offered the perfect setting for a celebration that felt immersive and personal,” shares Soni Singh of 77 Weddings. “The vision was to balance the grandeur of an Indian wedding with a more refined aesthetic, allowing the property to shine rather than overpowering it with décor.”

Each event had its own concept and mood, developed collaboratively by the team to maintain a cohesive design language rooted in softness and elegance. The décor complemented the tropical surroundings rather than competing with them, allowing the ocean views and natural landscape to remain central to the experience.

The itinerary was equally considered, with fewer back-to-back events giving guests time to unwind and explore the island. A leisurely morning by the lower beach featured water sports, kayaking, beach volleyball and speedboat experiences. A dedicated activity area with a beer counter, personalised fans and umbrellas added thoughtful touches, making the experience relaxed and comfortable.

Hosting the celebrations at Conrad Koh Samui also brought logistical considerations. The resort’s hillside terrain required careful coordination of guest transfers, buggy movements and security, particularly for events planned around the beach. The team also worked closely with the hotel’s catering staff to ensure authentic Indian flavours, as the property hosted its first large scale Indian pre-wedding celebration. “The success of the celebrations was a true team effort. The hotel’s General Manager and every department went above and beyond to bring the vision to life,” says Soni. “The couple trusted us from the venue selection through to the smallest details, allowing us to create an experience that reflected their personalities while making the most of the destination.”

Bringing together the warmth of Indian wedding traditions, the elegance of Conrad Koh Samui and the unhurried charm of a tropical escape, Yashvi and Hrutik’s celebrations offered a considered take on destination weddings, where understated luxury and meaningful guest experiences took centre stage.
