A major political row has erupted over the flydubai incident, with the Bharatiya Janata Party attacking Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for maintaining silence on the bravery displayed by the Indian pilot, Captain Smit Machchhar. The BJP questioned why the Congress leader has not posted any message of appreciation on social media despite several days passing since the mid-air heroics that saved 180 lives. National spokesperson Sambit Patra criticised the Opposition’s stance, contrasting their silence on anti-terror heroics with past controversies, including reactions following the Batla House encounter. Meanwhile, television network correspondents noted that while several Congress leaders have issued statements, the ruling party continues to seek a direct response from Rahul Gandhi on the matter.
