The Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) is expected to complete road construction on the flyovers and underpasses of the Rs. 14 billion Kutchery Chowk remodelling project before Eid-ul-Fitr.
The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has started beautification work at the site, while installation of lighting on the flyovers and underpasses is also underway.
A technical team from the National Engineering Services Pakistan (Nespak) visited the project site to review progress and examine the technical aspects of the scheme. The Nespak team carried out a detailed inspection of different technical components of the Kutchery Chowk remodelling project.
The team also reviewed the expected traffic flow after completion of the scheme to evaluate its impact on congestion in the area. Officials examined the quality control mechanisms and expressed satisfaction over the work carried out so far.
The manoeuvrability of heavy vehicles, particularly the movement of e-buses through U-turns, was also assessed, and certain design modifications were proposed.
FWO officials informed the team that project timelines were being closely monitored without compromising technical specifications. According to officials, around 70 percent of the project has been completed, and asphalt work has already started.
Executive Engineer (Exen) Punjab Highways Rana Qamar Ali Saqib said the Kutchery Chowk project is likely to be completed by April 30, as about 70 percent of the work has already been finished.
