Golden hour descends
On two retreating souls
Gradually, respectfully
Coping in their own ways
Conversation quivers
Supportive and polite
Occasionally exposing
The implicit rejection
Loved shapes begin to change
Adored forms now mutate
These seedling strangers
All new growth is done apart
Shrunken and drifting through
A twilight house of shadows
They navigate by liminal light
An indefinite corridor of time
Deafened by the entropy of love
The remnants of a fading age…
Kicking through the petals
Shed from tired heads
Broken by the unwavering dawn
And a dying way of life
Between boxes and bags
Amid trinkets and rags
Savouring these final gasps
Exhaustedly, they journey on
With still warm embers
Of a charring love
Floating all around
A static dance in different rooms
Fighting through the feathers
Of pillows torn apart
Acceptance postponed
Grieving put on hold
Caught upon those monolithic barbs
The remnants of a fading age…
