Release Date, Cast, and Everything We Know

The race is finally back on. Netflix will stream 11 new episodes of Steel Ball Run: JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure weekly starting September 25, 2026, covering the second and third stages of its cross-country horse race. The date was revealed at Anime Expo 2026, along with a new trailer and three cast additions.

Release Date

New episodes hit Netflix on September 25, 2026, and they’ll roll out weekly on Fridays. According to ComicBook.com, that restores the “JoJo Fridays” rhythm fans haven’t had since Golden Wind.

The show technically premiered months ago. Netflix released a single 47-minute special on March 19, 2026, covering the opening stage of the race, and then went quiet. Gizmodo reports the streamer later said that one-episode rollout was intentional and signed off by the production team. Either way, the full schedule now exists.

Who’s in the Cast

Shogo Sakata leads as Johnny Joestar, with Yohei Azakami as his racing partner Gyro Zeppeli and Kaito Ishikawa as rival Diego Brando. Daman Mills and Kaiji Tang head the English dub as Johnny and Gyro.

Anime Expo added three names. Tomokazu Sugita plays Funny Valentine, the sitting US President who publicly backs the race. Tomoaki Maeno voices Mountain Tim, a Wyoming cowboy and early favorite. Yoko Hikasa takes Hot Pants, a secretive competitor whose background is a mystery even in the official notes.

David Production is animating, with Toshiyuki Kato as series director and Yasuhiro Kimura and Hideya Takahashi co-directing.

What We Know So Far

The new season of Steel Ball Run adapts the seventh part of Hirohiko Araki‘s manga. It trades the modern settings of earlier parts for an alternate 1890s America, where racers cross the continent on horseback and the winner can claim nearly anything they want.

Stages 2 and 3 push the field into a desert crossing of roughly 750 miles. That stretch holds an area feared as the Devil’s Palm, and the official synopsis frames it as the race’s first real test. Character descriptions shared through Warner Bros. Japan also point to murders breaking out mid-race, with Mountain Tim stepping in to investigate. This competition is clearly about more than a finish line.

What We Don’t Know Yet

  • Anything past Stage 3. Netflix hasn’t announced episodes or dates beyond this 11-episode batch.
  • The total episode count for the full story.
  • English dub casting for Funny Valentine, Mountain Tim, and Hot Pants.
  • Whether weekly Friday drops continue after these stages, given how unusual the March rollout was.
