MLB mock drafts, and the Red Sox‘ chances of taking Brody Bumila: Though he also starred for the school’s basketball team (anchoring the recent state championship run), Bishop Feehan’s 6-foot-9 left-hander Brody Bumila is becoming increasingly known for his pitching prowess.

Bumila, now in his senior year, dazzled fans and scouts at a recent Bishop Feehan start. He totaled a school record 20 strikeouts and threw a seven-inning no-hitter. His fastball reached 100 mph.

It was simply the latest in an impressive line of performances from Bumila in 2026.

20-strikeout‼️ no-hitter and up to 100 mph from 6-foot-9 Brody Bumila.

2026 high school LHP was overpowering tonight for Bishop Feehan in Massachusetts. Heavy fastball attack and mixed in a quality changeup.

Though he technically committed to Texas to play college baseball next season, there is also a strong likelihood that he could go straight to Major League Baseball.

A big component of Bumila’s potential future at the pro level is based on the increasing chance that he’s a first-round pick in the 2026 MLB Draft (which will run from July 11-13).

Bumila’s stock has risen in recent weeks, but he’s still projected to go within the possible range of the Red Sox (who hold the 20th pick in the first round).

Currently, a trio of MLB mock drafts have Bumila going in the vicinity of the Red Sox pick:

  • MLB.com: Red Sox pick shortstop Tyler Bell (Bumila goes No. 21 to the Padres).
  • Baseball America: Red Sox pick left-handed pitcher/outfielder Jared Grindlinger (Bumila goes No. 18 to the Reds).
  • The Athletic: Red Sox pick third baseman Bo Lawrence (Bumila goes No. 18 to the Reds).

Trivia: Of MLB players who were born in Massachusetts, which of them totaled the most career home runs?

(Answer at the bottom).

Hint: Though he was drafted by the Red Sox, he was traded and never played at the big league level for Boston. In fact, he only played for one team in his entire MLB career, totaling 449 home runs.

Scores and schedules:

Tonight, the Red Sox begin a three-game series at Fenway Park against the Phillies at 6:45 p.m.

Also tonight, Legacy FC host the Orlando Pride at 7 p.m. at Gillette Stadium.

Tomorrow, the second-place Revolution host first-place Nashville SC at Gillette Stadium at 7:30 p.m.

More from Boston.com:

Revs on the rise: Mamadou Fofana made the MLS Team of the Matchday after his standout performance (including a goal-line save) in the Revolution’s comeback win on Saturday. His coach, Marko Mitrović, was also named (as was New England captain Carles Gil, who was included on the bench).

Best of the best over the weekend. 🔥

On this day: In 2000, Pedro Martinez struck out 15 Orioles in a 9-0 Red Sox win. At the absolute height of his power, Martinez managed to draw a standing ovation from the Camden Yards crowd before he struck out Delino DeShields to cap his complete game gem.

Daily highlight: Orioles pitcher Dietrich Enns made the barehanded grab and (eventually) got his foot on the base to complete the out in the eventual win over the Yankees.
