Real Madrid’s growing internal tensions reportedly erupted into a dressing-room fight involving Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni, according to several club sources.
The incident allegedly took place at the club’s Valdebebas training ground, one day after an earlier confrontation between the two players. Sources said the altercation left Valverde with a deep cut to the head, and he was reportedly taken to the hospital for treatment.
A Real Madrid spokesperson told Reuters the club would not comment on the reported incident but confirmed that officials are still considering how to respond.
According to the sources, disciplinary proceedings have been opened against both players. Possible punishments could include financial fines or suspensions.
The seriousness of the situation reportedly led to an emergency meeting involving senior club officials. Players remained at the training ground for more than an hour as the club attempted to calm tensions within the squad.
The latest incident comes during a difficult period for Real Madrid, with reports of increasing unrest inside the locker room.
Earlier this week, defender Alvaro Carreras admitted he was involved in a heated argument with a teammate. However, he described it as “a one-off incident of no significance that has been resolved.” Spanish media had reported that the disagreement involved German defender Antonio Rudiger.
Real Madrid’s problems have also extended onto the field this season. Manager Xabi Alonso was dismissed midway through the campaign, while his replacement, Alvaro Arbeloa, has struggled to improve results.
The club was eliminated by Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals and now trails La Liga leaders FC Barcelona by 11 points with four matches remaining.
Real Madrid will face FC Barcelona at Camp Nou on Sunday in El Clásico, a match that could officially secure the league title for the Catalan club.
