The dogs’ owner, Layla Evans, was arrested over an unrelated matter shortly after her missing pets mauled Malik, but has not yet been charged.
Evans said she had been staying in a tent at the park, and that the dogs had been locked inside the tent, but escaped, 7NEWS reports.
PolAir circled above Westfield Chermside in a search for the dogs on Friday, with one of the dogs captured two hours after the attack.
The second dog escaped authorities until later on Saturday, and local runners were warned that morning to be wary of the dangerous dog still on the loose.
Both have now been surrendered to Brisbane City Council.
Evans now has 14 days to appeal orders to euthanise her dogs.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim of last night’s horrific dog attack,” the council told 7NEWS.com.au.
“Both dogs involved are now in Council possession and a decision on their future will be made as soon as possible.
