A new memorial visual for the Rascal Does Not Dream of A Dear Friend anime film has been revealed. This week’s visual presents lead heroine Mai Sakurajima, dressed in the bunny girl outfit from the Rascal Does Not Dream series’ beginning.

Rascal Does Not Dream of A Dear Friend will debut in Japanese theaters on October 16. The movie shares its title with the original light novel series’ 15th and final main volume, which Yen Press describes as such:
As the truth about Miori and Touko Kirishima comes to light, Sakuta must make a choice that will decide everything…for him…for Mai…for Shouko…for Miori…and for Touko. Only one thing’s for sure—whatever happens, this will be his final bout of Adolescence Syndrome!
The Rascal Does Not Dream (Seishun Butayaro) series’ general premise sees protagonist Sakuta Azusagawa getting involved with people with supernatural problems, beginning with his high school senior Mai and her invisibility issue. The KADOKAWA-published light novels, which come from The Pet Girl of Sakurasou duo of Hajime Kamoshida (writer) and Keji Mizoguchi (illustrator), began in 2014. The anime adaptations started with a 2018 TV series, titled Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai like the first light novel volume, and also consists of a 2019 movie, two 2023 films, and the Summer 2025 anime season’s Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus.
The light novel series is published under KADOKAWA’s Dengeki Bunko label/imprint. While the main story has concluded, a second short story collection will be released on October 9, 2026 in Japan. Some of the main stories have inspired manga adaptations.
