Rachel Dratch had a moment of serendipity while competing on “Celebrity Jeopardy! All Stars.”

When the Lexington native and “Saturday Night Live” alum stopped by “Late Night with Seth Meyers” on Monday, it was primarily to promote her upcoming Broadway role as the narrator in “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.”

After joking to Meyers about seeing the 1975 movie for the first time as a teenager on the “gritty streets of Cape Cod” as a teenager, Dratch began discussing her recent performance on the all-star edition of “Celebrity Jeopardy!”.

Dratch appeared twice on a star-filled tournament version of the classic game show in 2023 and 2024, which raised more than $2 million for charity. After winning her first matchup over “Home Alone” actor Macaulay Culkin and WWE wrestler Becky Lynch, Dratch lost to CBS correspondent Mo Rocca in the semifinals.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but Dratch didn’t fare especially well this time around, losing to sports talk show host (and Framingham native) Katie Nolan in the tournament opener on March 13.

But Dratch did have one moment of incredible luck during the game.

As she explained to Meyers, before appearing on “Celebrity Jeopardy!,” Dratch got her hair done by celebrity hairdresser Eddie Cook. As they chatted, Dratch admitted to Cook that she hadn’t studied the sort of facts one might need to appear on “Jeopardy!”

“So you didn’t look up, like, ‘The Spanish Armada?’” Dratch said, paraphrasing the hairdresser’s response.

“And I was like, ‘No,’” Dratch said. “So I was sitting there on my phone, and I look it up.”

Fast-forward to the taping, and host Ken Jennings read out the following clue: “In July 1588 […] this fleet of ships under the command of the Duke of Medina Sidonia was spotted off the English coast.”

Dratch’s reaction went viral on social media, racking up millions of views.

“It was the most crazy, woo-woo thing ever,” Dratch told Meyers.

You can watch Dratch’s episode of “Celebrity Jeopardy!” All Stars streaming on Hulu.
