A teenage boy who was reportedly attempting to protect his mother is fighting for life after an altercation at a Queensland home allegedly escalated into a stabbing and house fire.
Emergency services were called to a Cascade Street address in Raceview, South West of Brisbane, about 4.30pm on Sunday following reports of a serious assault and blaze.
Police allege a 50-year-old Raceview man stabbed a 40-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy during an altercation involving people known to each other.

The boy, who reportedly stepped in to protect his mum, suffered critical injuries and was transported to Queensland Children’s Hospital, where he remains under treatment.
The woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Mater Hospital in a stable condition.
Police will further allege the man started a fire at the residence following the stabbing.
Officers arrested the man shortly after arriving at the scene.
Investigators believe the three people involved were known to one another and say there is no ongoing threat to the community.
The 50-year-old Raceview man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder as a domestic violence offence and one count of arson as a domestic violence offence.
He was due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday.
Police investigations remain ongoing.
