A boxing coach has been charged and will front court accused of sexually assaulting a child.
The 70-year-old man is alleged to have used his position at a gym to carry out the historical offending between 2021 and 2022.
Officers raided a gym in Kirwan, Townsville, on Wednesday and seized several “relevant items”, Queensland Police said.
The accused, a Kirwan local, was arrested and charged with four counts of sexual assault and three counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16.

“We acknowledge the courage required for (alleged) victims to come forward and report these matters, particularly where the offending is alleged to have occurred over an extended period of time,” Townsville Child Abuse and Sexual Crime Unit detective senior sergeant Dave Miles said.
The accused will appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on September 15.
