The family made less of a stamp on this birthday celebration than usual. The previous day, both Crown Prince Christian and Princess Isabella were able to participate in the Royal Run, but the king’s older children had to return to their routines and could not attend the greeting. Queen Margrethe, who had to undergo emergency surgery after a clot was detected in her hip due to a previous fall, was also unable to attend. The operation went according to plan, Mary of Denmark told Danish TV during the Royal Run. Margrethe’s heath has been a cause for concern in recent weeks after she suffered an episode of angina pectoris on May 14, and in the coming days, it will be the main occupation of Frederick as neither he nor the queen have planned any activities in their public agenda until June 1. On that day they are expected in Odense, where they will start their summer tour.
