The gates are opening once again, with production on BINGE’s Wentworth spin-off Halfway Home set to begin tomorrow in Melbourne, marking the next chapter in one of Australia’s most successful television dramas.
Bringing back fan favourites Boomer, Franky and Lou alongside a new generation of characters, the series shifts the action beyond the prison walls into a world where freedom comes with a whole new set of risks.
First teased at the Wentworth Con fan event in Sydney in late 2024, before being officially confirmed at the 2026 AACTA Awards earlier this year, Wentworth: Halfway Home follows a group of former inmates as they attempt to rebuild their lives on the outside while confronting the challenges of life after prison.

Susan “Boomer” Jenkins (Katrina Milosevic), Franky Doyle (Nicole da Silva) and Lou Kelly (Kate Box) all return, joined by newcomers Alex King and Chenile Chandler as the series introduces a new generation of characters.
Freshly paroled, Boomer arrives at Sal’s Halfway House determined to regain custody of her daughter and build a new life. But when a body turns up, everyone becomes a suspect in a house full of former inmates, where staying out of prison may prove harder than getting out.

Premiering on Foxtel in 2013, Wentworth reimagined the classic Australian drama Prisoner, which first debuted on Network 10 in 1979. Across eight seasons, it became one of Australia’s biggest television exports, screening in more than 170 territories worldwide and building a devoted international fan base.
Rather than returning to Wentworth Correctional Centre, Halfway Home follows its former inmates as they navigate life beyond prison, shifting the focus from surviving behind bars to rebuilding their lives in the outside world.
