Premier League round-up as Arsenal and Bournemouth land crucial victories and Everton snatch late draw

After all the European action midweek, there was a distinct lack of Premier League football this Saturday – with there being no early kick-off.

The traditional 3pm kick-offs were also affected, with only three matches going ahead at this time.

Arsenal travelled to Leeds, Wolves hosted Bournemouth and Brighton took on Everton on the south coast.

Across the country, a barrage of goals were flying in – unless you were at the Amex Stadium, in which case you had to settle for one.

At Elland Road, the Gunners ran riot while Bournemouth netted two beauties to give Wolves a miserable afternoon.

But how did they get on? GB News reports.

Leeds 0-4 Arsenal

After a miserable defeat to Manchester United last week, Arsenal needed a commanding performance to underline their position as Premier League title favourites.

And Mikel Arteta got exactly that after a brutal Leeds thrashing at Elland Road, putting them seven points clear of second-placed Manchester City.

An injury to Bukayo Saka in the warm-up saw Noni Madueke come into the line-up but the forward delivered, first providing an assist for Martin Zubimendi and then seeing his corner flapped in by Leeds goalkeeper Karl Darlow.

The Gunners did not let up after the break as Viktor Gyokeres tapped home to make it three before Gabriel Jesus came off the bench to bag a fourth.

The victory puts the pressure back on City and the rest of the pack, with Pep Guardiola’s side set to face Tottenham on Sunday.

Brighton 1-1 Everton

Birthday boy Beto scored a jaw-dropping 97th-minute equaliser to cancel out Pascal Gross’s earlier opener.

This was by no means a classic at the Amex Stadium after a miserable first half passed by without a shot on target.

However, the Premier League can serve up drama in any situation and when Brighton took the lead against the run of play through Gross, his first since returning to the Seagulls from Germany this year, it looked like all three points would stay on the south coast.

But Beto, celebrating his 28th birthday, had other ideas, coming off the bench to grab a late equaliser for David Moyes’s men.

Everton defender Jake O’Brien saw his shot pushed away by Bart Verbruggen but not far enoguh from goal, as the ball fell nicely for Beto.

The former Udinese made no mistake with what was almost the last kick of the game, sinking Brighton hearts in the 97th minute.

Wolves 0-2 Bournemouth

Bournemouth extended their unbeaten streak to four with a damaging defeat for Wolves, with the Cherries winning 2-0 at Molineux.

Junior Kroupi’s opener was worth the admission fee for the travelling Bournemouth fans before Alex Scott made sure of the result with a second goal after the break.

For Wolves, their relegation appears all but confirmed with just eight points from 24 matches – leaving them 17 points adrift.
