India Today has accessed the autopsy report of Prateek Yadav, the son of late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and half-brother of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, who died in Lucknow on Wednesday after a prolonged illness. According to the autopsy report, Prateek Yadav’s sudden demise was caused by a cardiorespiratory collapse resulting from a massive pulmonary thromboembolism, or a severe blood clot. Medical details suggest the clot originated in the leg and travelled to the arteries. Forensic experts have preserved the heart and pulmonary thromboembolic material in formalin for further histopathological examination. Additionally, viscera samples have been handed over to the police for detailed chemical analysis to investigate any underlying factors, a process expected to take two to three weeks. The postmortem report also clarifies that all noted injuries were antemortem, meaning they occurred while the individual was still alive.
