Authorities responded to “numerous fights” that erupted at Carson Beach in South Boston Tuesday evening, state police said.

Troopers arrived at the beach around 5:30 p.m. following reports of the altercations, as well as loud music and alcohol use, according to a statement from Massachusetts State Police.

Police reported that “crowds of youth” were dispersed from both Carson Beach and nearby Castle Island. Police said they did not have an exact count of the attendees or those ordered to leave.

The scene was cleared by approximately 9:30 p.m. Authorities continued to monitor the area throughout the evening.

No injuries were reported during the incident, and no arrests were made, police said.

The incident led to a multi-hour closure of parking lots at Carson Beach and a portion of Day Boulevard, the Boston Globe reported. Day Boulevard has since been reopened.
