Pogačar seals Romandie title in style

Tadej Pogačar sealed the 2026 Tour de Romandie title with victory on the fifth and final stage in Switzerland on Sunday.

The UAE Team Emirates-XRG rider won the race on his debut appearance, finishing 42 seconds clear of Germany’s Florian Lipowitz in the general classification.

Pogačar completed the race in 20 hours, five minutes and 42 seconds. Lipowitz finished second overall, with France’s Lenny Martinez third, two minutes and 44 seconds behind the Slovenian.

The final stage came down to the closing kilometres, where Pogačar pulled away on the last climb. Lipowitz crossed second on the day, while Primož Roglič, also of Slovenia, finished third.

The win adds another major stage-race title to Pogačar’s record and gives UAE Team Emirates-XRG their 27th victory of the 2026 season.

It was also Pogačar’s 117th career win.

After the finish, Pogačar said the race had been demanding, with rival teams setting a high pace. He said the final climb required a full effort all the way to the line.

He also said the Tour de Romandie carried personal meaning, having followed the race since he was a child and long hoped to compete in it.
