Patriots make additional pair of Week 6 moves after activating A.J. Brown

Pro Bowl wide receiver A.J. Brown will make his official return versus the New York Jets after spending four games on injured reserve.

But the New England Patriots announced an additional two moves on the eve of the AFC East meeting at Gillette Stadium.

The organization elevated safety Elliott Davison for Sunday’s 1 p.m. ET kickoff and also released running back Hassan Haskins from the practice squad.

Davison, 24, reverted last week after appearing in his first NFL game beyond the preseason. The 6-foot, 190-pound safety recorded two tackles and one pass deflection during what became a 45-17 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. He handled 10 snaps on defense and 19 snaps on special teams in his debut as a standard elevation and now has a third and final call-up remaining before a move to the active roster would be required to take the field.

Signed to the Patriots’ practice squad at the start of September before being released and re-signed, Davison originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of UTSA in 2025. The former Roadrunners defensive back logged all of his rookie year on the practice squad of the New Orleans Saints and cleared waivers following the 53-man cutdown deadline in August.

Haskins, 26, departs from New England’s practice squad after returning to the fold last week. The 6-foot-2, 228-pound running back had visited Foxborough for a workout that became a contract ahead of the preseason opener. After being released as a vested veteran at the end of August, he spent two weeks on the initial practice squad before circling back amid October.

Selected in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL draft at No. 131 overall, Haskins spent previous tours with the Tennessee Titans and Los Angeles Chargers. Through 44 games, the Michigan product stands with 76 carries for 229 yards, 18 catches for 119 yards, three touchdowns as well as one start in the backfield. He has handled 371 snaps on offense and 683 snaps on special teams in his career.

The Patriots recently worked out three running backs and move forward with a full 53-man roster as well as one open spot on the 17-man practice squad.

Head coach Mike Vrabel’s 3-2 club ruled out cornerbacks Carlton Davis III and Karon Prunty on the final injury report ahead of the divisional matchup.
