Patriots edge rusher Harold Landry has been placed on the physically unable to perform list.

Landry, who led the team in sacks last year with 8.5, missed spring workouts as he continued to rehab a knee injury that had affected him last season.

Players on the PUP list count against the team’s active roster limit and are allowed to participate in all team activities except for practice. Players who remain on the PUP list after roster cutdown day (August 30th) are required to miss the first four games of the season.

The Patriots depth on the edge has been thin this spring without Landry.

K’Lavon Chaisson signed with the Commanders during the offseason. Second-round pick Gabe Jacas missed spring practices and he remains the only unsigned second-round pick in the NFL.

New England signed Dre’Mont Jones in the offseason. Elijah Ponder, who posted 24 tackles, four sacks, and two fumble recovery as a rookie last season, is also in the mix.

The Patriots also placed running back Terrell Jennings on the non football injury list. Players who are on the NFI list either suffered an injury or an illness outside of football, and they don’t count against the roster limit. Players who remain on the NFI list after cutdown day must also miss four games.

Jennings appeared in seven games last season, averaging 3.2 yards per carry on 23 attempts. He was promoted to the active roster after Antonio Gibson went down with a season-ending ACL injury.

TreVeyon Henderson and Rhamondre Stevenson remain at the top of the Patriots’ running back depth chart. The Patriots released Gibson in February.

Jennings, along with rookies Jam Miller (7th round) and Myles Montgomery (undrafted) and second-year player Lan Larison are among those expected to compete for the third running back spot.

Training camp begins on Saturday in Foxborough and runs through August 20th.
