Pakistan Officially Opens New Iran Trade Corridor for Beef Exports to Central Asia

Pakistan has marked a new milestone in its transit and logistics sector as the first refrigerated (reefer) TIR export shipment from Karachi was launched via the Iran corridor en route to Central Asia.

According to officials and operators, the consignment of beef was dispatched under the TIR system from BOML CFS Karachi and will travel through the Gabd Border Post (250) near Gwadar, entering Iran via Rimdan before continuing onward to Uzbekistan.

The movement opens a new trade route linking Pakistan to Central Asian markets through Iran.

The inaugural shipment was jointly facilitated by Pakistan Customs, with DG Transit Sanaullah Abro and Director Transit Rashid formally inaugurating the first two reefer TIR transport units at BOML CFS. Representatives from logistics operator M/s Broadpeak, including Farhan Siddiqui and Tayyab, were also present, along with the management of BOML CFS and the PNC-ICC chair.

Officials described the development as a significant step forward for Pakistan’s transit trade framework, highlighting the potential of the Gabd–Rimdan corridor to strengthen Gwadar’s strategic connectivity and expand access to emerging export markets in Central Asia.

The initiative reflects growing coordination between Customs authorities, TIR operators, and logistics companies, as Pakistan moves to enhance transshipment activity through Karachi and Gwadar ports. Increased international container traffic has already been observed at Karachi Port in recent weeks, they added.

The new corridor is expected to provide faster and more efficient transit options for exporters while positioning Pakistan as a key logistics hub connecting South Asia, the Middle East, and Central Asia.
