The Asian Beach Games, organized by the Olympic Council of Asia, is a major regional event that features beach and water-based sports. Beach wrestling is one of the key disciplines, recognized for its fast-paced format and growing popularity across Asia.
Pakistan has previously shown strength in beach wrestling, with Inam Butt emerging as one of the country’s most successful athletes in the discipline. He has won multiple international titles, including gold medals at major competitions, and remains a central figure in Pakistan’s campaign.
The selection of athletes across four weight categories reflects a balanced squad combining experience and developing talent. Each wrestler will compete in their respective division against top-ranked athletes from across the continent.
Beach wrestling differs from traditional freestyle wrestling, as matches are held in sand, are shorter in duration, and place greater emphasis on speed, balance, and quick scoring techniques. The format has contributed to its increasing appeal in multi-sport events.
The competition will run for nine days, with wrestling events forming part of a broader program that includes several beach sports.
Pakistan’s participation in the event highlights its continued involvement in regional competitions and provides an opportunity for its wrestlers to gain international exposure and compete at a high level.
