Amid the Ram Mandir donation theft row in Ayodhya, more than 1,000 applications have already been received from across the country for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the temple’s managing body.
The largest chunk of the pool of applicants is reportedly made up of retired bureaucrats and ex-senior administrative officers. Former IPS officer Amitabh Thakur has confirmed that he, too, has applied for the position.
Within just 24 hours of the recruitment notification being issued, a significant number of applications were received at the official email address of the selection committee.
The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust has constituted a three-member selection committee to appoint the CEO. The last date to apply is July 18, and the total number of applications is expected to reach several thousand by then.
Due to the high volume of applications, the selection panel will appoint a secretary to assist with the screening process and the verification of candidates’ eligibility.
The committee is scheduled to meet on July 19 to review the applications and finalise the interview process. It comprises former Supreme Court Justice Pramod Kohli, Lieutenant General (Retd) Vishnukant Chaturvedi, and Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust chairman Suresh Haware.
The eligibility criteria for the post mandates that the applicants must be between 50 and 70 years of age, have at least 20 years of administrative experience, and be willing to reside in Ayodhya.
They are also required to be devout Hindus, have faith in Lord Shri Ram, and possess proficiency in both Hindi and English.
After the initial screening, shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews or discussions. If necessary, online interviews may also be conducted.
At the temple trust’s meeting proposed for July 22, the selection committee may present a progress report on the recruitment process.
