High drama erupted in central Delhi as Delhi Police and paramilitary personnel detained members of the National Students’ Union of India and other student outfits staging flash protests near Connaught Place and Jantar Mantar. Protesters gathered without police permission, shouting slogans, waving flags, and attempting to stage sit-ins demanding the reinstatement of Jantar Mantar as a designated demonstration site. Tensions escalated over allegations surrounding the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, with demonstrating student activists demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Heavy security deployment was seen across Janpath and Connaught Place’s Inner Circle, where police rounded up men and women demonstrators and moved them into waiting buses to prevent road blockades and restore traffic flow.
