Parthip: JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa is inspired by a 19th-century French Lamarck University. From a designer’s lens, what makes it so powerful for Indian celebrations?
Nitin: From a design perspective, JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa is unlike any conventional beachfront resort. Each venue has its own character and narrative, which allows every function to feel visually distinct. For Indian celebrations, where multiple events unfold over several days, this architectural storytelling is invaluable. The scale is grand yet not overpowering, and the whimsical design allows Indian décor elements to be layered thoughtfully, without competing with the space. It gives designers immense creative freedom while maintaining elegance and cohesion.
Parthip: One hesitation we often hear from Indian families when it comes to newer destinations is reliability. Having planned and executed a celebration there, what would you say to put those concerns about Phu Quoc to rest?

Nitin: The entire experience was built on a true sense of partnership, especially important for a milestone celebration like a 25th wedding anniversary. From accommodating early check-ins after international flights to facilitating an almost complete buyout of the resort, JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa demonstrated exceptional flexibility at every stage. With close to 180 to 200 rooms in use, the celebration felt both intimate and exclusive, allowing families to settle in comfortably and enjoy time together. What truly stood out was the management and staff’s nuanced understanding of Indian culture. From honouring rituals and respecting timelines to intuitively catering to the needs of elders, children, and extended family, every detail was handled with care. Over the course of the three-night anniversary celebration, this thoughtful approach ensured that guests across generations felt genuinely relaxed and free to immerse themselves in the joy of the occasion fully.
Parthip: If you had to pitch JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa as a milestone celebration destination to an Indian family in 30 seconds, what would you say?
Nitin: In December last year, I had the opportunity to plan a 25th wedding anniversary celebration at JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa, and even after having executed over 50 to 60 weddings across destinations worldwide, the experience genuinely stood out. What impressed me most was the depth of training and awareness across the hotel’s team. Even during a short two-minute golf cart ride from a guest room to a venue or the breakfast area, the staff effortlessly shared the history of the resort, the island, and the destination itself. They were equally well-versed with the rhythm of Phu Quoc, from daily sound-and-light shows to fireworks and cultural experiences happening across the island, guiding guests with ease and confidence. That level of attentiveness and knowledge created a sense of comfort for our clients and their families, making the anniversary celebration feel seamless, enriching, and truly memorable.
