Nike Tracksuit Goes Out of Stock After Picture of Maduro Wearing it in US Custody Goes Viral

On Saturday, January 3, global media reported one of the most significant developments in recent years: the United States carried out strikes in Caracas and confirmed the capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores.

Maduro has now been in U.S. custody for several hours. He landed at Stewart Air National Guard Base in New York, handcuffed and with his head covered, as shown in officially released photos and videos.

However, a different detail from the arrest is now dominating social media. In an image shared by Donald Trump on Truth Social, Maduro is seen wearing a grey Nike tracksuit. The outfit immediately went viral and has since sold out on Nike’s website due to the surge in public attention.

The tracksuit, made from recycled grey fabric with black accents, is listed at around $140 in the men’s section. While it has disappeared from the U.S. online store, it remains available on Nike’s website in some other countries and at select retail outlets.

Maduro also wore the same tracksuit while stepping off the plane in New York and in later footage showing him walking alongside DEA agents.

The arrest and the unexpected hype around the tracksuit have become one of the most talked-about combinations on the internet, blending global politics with viral fashion moments.
