Neves takes UAE Warriors heavyweight crown

Brazil’s Eduardo Neves claimed the heavyweight title at UAE Warriors 70 after beating Morocco’s Badr Medkouri by second-round submission in Abu Dhabi.

The bout headlined the 70th edition of the UAE Warriors Mixed Martial Arts Championship, held on Friday night at Space42 Arena, Al Raha Beach.

Neves finished the fight in the second round to take the main event crown, adding another international name to the list of fighters to win on UAE soil.

The event featured 42 male and female fighters from around the world, continuing UAE Warriors’ role as one of the region’s regular stages for mixed martial arts.

For Abu Dhabi, the card added to a growing calendar of combat sports events in the capital. The city has become a familiar stop for international MMA, with UAE Warriors giving fighters from the Middle East, North Africa, Brazil, Europe and beyond a route into high-level competition.

Medkouri had gone into the headline contest looking to bring the heavyweight belt back to Morocco, but Neves took control and found the finish before the fight could reach the later rounds.

The result gives Neves the title on a landmark night for the promotion, which reached its 70th edition in front of the Abu Dhabi crowd.
