Carrot’s broken leg required amputation and her face injuries are consistent with her mouth having been taped.
MSPCA-Angell is seeking information regarding a poodle mix found in Cambridge.
The dog was found underweight and with a broken leg and muzzle injuries in a store parking lot at the Fresh Pond Mall in the Alewife neighborhood Tuesday, the MSPCA said. Someone brought her to the Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston.
Now known as Carrot, the poodle mix is roughly 6 years old and had injuries on her face consistent with her mouth being taped, officials said. She had no microchip or identification tags.
After being treated overnight in the animal clinic’s emergency department, staff determined that the break in Carrot’s front right leg is “so severe” that it will require amputation, the MSPCA said. Carrot’s surgery to amputate her leg was scheduled for Wednesday.
“We’re working with Cambridge Animal Control to try to find out more about Carrot’s past,” said MSPCA-Angell Law Enforcement Director Chris Schindler said in a statement. “To do that, it’s imperative that we get some help from the public.”
