Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis has said that the motive of jihad was behind the knife attack on two security guards in Mira Road area and the NIA and ATS are probing the case. The incident occurred in the early hours when a US-returned man, who previously worked as an online coaching teacher, stabbed the guards after they failed to recite the Kalma. Investigations reveal that the accused was highly radicalised and regularly watched ISIS-related videos online. Following the violent assault, local police arrested the attacker from his rented apartment, which has now been sealed. The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad and the National Investigation Agency have taken over the comprehensive probe to unearth the full terror plot, focusing on the online radicalisation aspect and any potential larger terror nexus. Meanwhile, one of the injured security guards remains in critical condition at a local hospital. Authorities are exploring all possible angles, including a suspected massive funding trail allegedly linked to similar religiously motivated attacks across the state.
