Mohammad Rizwan has officially begun training with the Melbourne Renegades for the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL) season, taking part in his first full practice session shortly after arriving in Australia.
The Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter reached Melbourne yesterday and immediately joined his teammates to tune his game and adjust to local conditions ahead of BBL 15.
Rizwan has spoken openly about his desire to make a strong impression in Australia, saying performances in the country can significantly shape a player’s global profile. He sees the Big Bash as a fresh challenge and believes Australian conditions test both batters and bowlers at the highest level.
BBL 15 will be the fifth domestic T20 league of his career, and he is one of seven Pakistan stars featuring this season, alongside Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi.
Rizwan noted that facing close teammates in an overseas league will be a new experience, particularly with his first fixture on 15 December against Brisbane Heat, the same night Shaheen makes his Heat debut.
He also expressed enthusiasm about teaming up with Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa, who has troubled Pakistan in previous encounters, saying he hopes their partnership can help push the Renegades toward a title run.
Rizwan added that the passion of Australian fans and their deep love for cricket were key factors in his decision to join the league.
The 15th edition of the league will run from 14 December to 25 January 2026, featuring 44 prime-time early-evening matches.
