Mohamed Salah ‘considering Liverpool U-turn’ after Arne Slot sack

Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool exit might not be quite as final as everyone thought, according to his Egypt teammate Ahmed El-Shenawy.

The Pyramids goalkeeper has dropped a bombshell, suggesting the 33-year-old forward could actually stay at Anfield despite announcing his departure back in March.

El-Shenawy revealed that leaving the Merseyside club has weighed heavily on Salah’s mind.

“The prospect of leaving Liverpool has affected Mo psychologically, but the situation might change and he could still stay with the team,” El-Shenawy told ON Sports.

“He even told me that he doesn’t know anything about his future yet.”

It’s been a turbulent few months for the Egyptian King at Anfield.

Salah confirmed in March that he would be walking away as a free agent following nine remarkable years on Merseyside.

During that time, he collected an incredible haul of silverware – two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, a pair of League Cups and that unforgettable Champions League triumph in 2019.

But his final season was far from smooth sailing.

The winger publicly accused Liverpool’s hierarchy of “throwing him under the bus” and admitted he had no relationship whatsoever with then-manager Arne Slot.

The 35-year-old goalkeeper’s comments have certainly thrown a spanner in the works of what seemed like a done deal.

What makes this particularly intriguing is the managerial change at Anfield.

Slot has departed Liverpool, with Andoni Iraola now taking the reins – and that shift has apparently altered the landscape entirely.

El-Shenawy made clear that Salah genuinely has no idea where he’ll be playing next season.

The forward told his international teammate directly that his future remains completely up in the air, despite having said his goodbyes to the Liverpool faithful three months ago.

Salah himself has kept his options open, stating he’s in no rush to make a final call.

“I am still watching, I have time now, I am going to the World Cup and then everything will be clear,” he said.

“But if there is a good opportunity before it I will decide, and if there is no one, I will make my decision after the World Cup.”

His agent Ramy Abbas Issa has also waded in, urging supporters to be wary of the constant transfer rumours swirling around.

The representative stressed that even Salah himself doesn’t yet know where he’ll be playing his football next term.
