Mike Florio teases opening for Browns making Myles Garrett trade

The Cleveland Browns have had quite the eventful offseason, headlined by the hiring of Todd Monken to be their new head coach, replacing Kevin Stefanski. The Browns are hoping to finally get out of the NFL’s cellar after multiple down years in a row and get back into contention in the AFC.

Recently, Mike Florio of NBC Sports’ Pro Football Talk speculated on whether or not the Browns might be willing to part ways with their best player, star pass rusher Myles Garrett, in an attempt to bring in a treasure trove of assets.

“Mixed signals continue to emerge from Cleveland about the future of defensive end Myles Garrett. The team says he’s not getting traded… but they redo his contract in a way that would make it easier to trade him… it just feels like there’s an opening. There’s an opportunity for someone to make the Browns an offer they can’t refuse,” said Florio, per ProFootballTalk on X, formerly Twitter.

It would certainly take a huge trade package to get the Browns to consider trading Garrett, who recently set the NFL record for sacks in a season last year, and is widely viewed as the best overall player in the league today.

Still, for a Cleveland team that is fully in the middle of a tenuous rebuild, a package of significant future draft assets and young talent might be worth more than an individual player who can only do so much to help his team win games, regardless of how generationally talented he is.

For now, however, it doesn’t appear that anything is imminent on this front. The schedule for the 2026 season is slated to be released in May.
