The MG 4 Urban electric hatchback is being offered with $2000 cashback, while customers who order a vehicle at this weekend’s Everything Electric show in Sydney will also receive a $500 charging card.

Available until September 30, the offer reduces the MG 4 Urban Essence 43 price to $29,990 drive-away, undercutting the GAC Aion UT’s current promotional price of $31,990 drive-away nationally.

It also makes the MG 4 Urban cheaper than the Geely EX2 Inspire, priced from $30,990 before on-road costs, although the entry-level EX2 Complete remains more affordable at $26,490 before on-roads.

The MG 4 Urban went on sale in Australia in April 2026 as a smaller, city-focused electric hatchback positioned below the standard MG 4, with first deliveries beginning in June.

The entry-level Essence 43 has a single electric motor producing 110kW of power and 250Nm of torque, driving the front wheels. Its 43kWh lithium iron phosphate battery provides a claimed WLTP range of 316km.

The $2000 cashback offer also reduces the MG 4 Urban Essence 54 price to $32,990 drive-away. It produces 118kW and the same 250Nm, while its larger 54kWh battery provides a WLTP range of 405km.

The battery, power output and driving range are the key differences between the two variants, which share the same standard equipment list.

This includes 17-inch alloy wheels, synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, wireless phone charging, and a six-speaker sound system.

There is also a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 360-degree camera. The MG4 Urban has a five-star safety rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP).

MG is also offering a $500 charging card to customers who order an MG4 Urban at the Everything Electric show, taking place at Sydney Olympic Park in Homebush over September 18-20.

MG sales increased by 21.4 per cent in August, with the MG 4 Urban ranking among Australia’s 20 best-selling electric vehicles year-to-date, despite deliveries only beginning in June.

With 2195 sales to the end of August, it is MG Australia’s third-best selling EV behind the MG 4, with 2581 sales, and the MG S5 small SUV, with 2336.
