Melbourne secrets and South Australia sights explored on POSTCARDS

This week, fossil caves, seaside gelato and CBD laneway finds feature on Postcards as the team travels from Melbourne’s laneways to coastal Victoria and South Australia’s Limestone Coast.

Livinia Nixon heads to South Australia to explore Naracoorte, starting with coffee at the historic Corner Grounds before venturing underground at Naracoorte Caves National Park, a World Heritage listed site home to one of the world’s most significant fossil deposits.

She wraps up the visit at Padthaway Estate, a family run vineyard set among the region’s rolling countryside.

In Melbourne’s CBD, Lauren Phillips uncovers a few unexpected laneway finds, beginning at The Sneaker Laundry on Katherine Place where a sneaker cleaning service also serves up matcha lattes.

She later stops by Ela Cafe on Little Collins Street before sampling Taiwanese street food favourites at Ahma in Bourke Street Arcade.

Kris Smith (pictured above) heads to the seaside town of Barwon Heads, stopping at Coffetti Gelato on Hitchcock Avenue for coffee and Italian style gelato before visiting local butcher Brad Bennett at Benno’s Meating Place.

He also calls into Heads and Tales Bookstore before finishing up at Tommy Gunns, a welcoming local spot known for its seasonal menu.

Madeline Spark travels through the country towns of Yea and Strath Creek, starting with a visit to Mint and Jam cafe before settling in for a quiet stay at Tathra Farmstays near Flowerdale.

She also drops by the local favourite corner shop, The General Strath Creek, where she catches up with owner Prue Brown.
