A Massachusetts man died after falling while rock climbing in Connecticut, officials said.
On Thursday afternoon, Environmental Conservation Police and Connecticut State Police responded to a report of a fall victim on the Appalachian Trail on River Road in Kent, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said.
Collin Salmon, 30, of Great Barrington, was rock climbing at St. John’s ledges near the trail when he fell, the department said. He was transported to New Milford Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Salmon previously lived in Warren, Connecticut, the department said.
The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection “extends its condolences to Collin’s family and friends,” the department said in a statement.
The investigation into the incident and the cause and manner of death remains ongoing, officials said.
