Crime
David Boucher, 48, is charged with first degree murder and is scheduled to appear in court on June 12 for a pretrial hearing, the DA said.
This story has been updated to include information from the district attorney about the victim’s identity.
A Massachusetts man is accused of murdering his father after he allegedly came to a police station to report the crime, prosecutors said.
On Monday morning, David L. Boucher, 48, allegedly walked into the North Adams police station and claimed he had killed his father inside a North Adams home, the office of the Berkshire District Attorney said in a press release.
North Adams police arrived to the multi-unit home at 256/258 Walnut St. and found a man’s body inside, the DA said. The victim had been stabbed repeatedly, prosecutors said.
“Additionally, based on initial evidence including the state of the body and statements made by the Defendant, it is believed that D.L Boucher killed his father about a week prior to his confession to police,” prosecutors wrote in a press release.
Boucher was arrested and charged with first degree murder, court records show.
Prosecutors identified the victim as Boucher’s father, David A. Boucher.
Boucher was arraigned on Tuesday in Northern Berkshire District Court, where he pleaded not guilty, and is expected to make a court appearance on June 12 for a pretrial hearing, court records show. He was held without bail because of the severity of the charge he is facing, according to court records.
The North Adams Police Department and State Police are investigating this incident, the DA said.
An attorney for Boucher did not respond to a request for comment Tuesday evening.
