She moves as though she’s wandered in from somewhere else. A little undone, a little enchanted, entirely self-possessed. Her clothes cling, fall and catch around her: something precious worn with the ease of something she has always owned.
For Autumn Winter 2026, Matthieu Blazy’s second Haute Couture collection for the House begins with a fairy tale. Literally. While researching Gabrielle Chanel’s apartment, Blazy discovered Les Fées, contes des contes in her personal library and began to wonder whether clothes might carry stories in much the same way a book does.
The resulting world is strange, beautiful and occasionally unruly. We were not in Kansas (or Paris) anymore… Feathers escape from tailoring. Raffia is worked into something resembling straw; guipure becomes magic beans; tweed dissolves into transparency. Tiny objects accumulate like treasures gathered along the way – charms, notes, chains and curiosities hidden inside pockets and linings, some known only to the woman wearing them.
It is couture that rewards curiosity. For the pages of our September Let Taste Live issue, model Marta Freccia wears the collection for the lens of Anna Victoria Best. Look closely and a series of buttons transforms from duckling to swan. Elsewhere are sleeping bears, golden eggs, poisoned flowers and fantastical embroideries. The workmanship is extraordinary, but the effect is never overly pristine. Blazy allows things to fray, unravel, collide. The precious is made personal.
