Man killed in East Boston overnight shooting, police say

The investigation remains ongoing, police said.

A man was killed in an overnight shooting in East Boston early Sunday morning, police said. 

Shortly before 1:30 a.m., police responded to a man found suffering from apparent gunshot wounds near 464 Meridian St., the Boston Police Department said in a press release

The man was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity will be released following an autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and after next of kin have been notified, police said. 

No arrests have been made, police said. 

The BPD Homicide Unit is investigating the incident. Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact detectives at 617-343-4470.
