Arne Slot’s century of matches in charge of Liverpool concluded with disappointment as the Reds suffered a 1-0 defeat against Galatasaray in the Champions League last-16 first leg on Tuesday evening.
The loss at a thunderous Rams Park marked the second occasion this season that the Turkish side have beaten the Premier League champions by the same scoreline in Istanbul.
Liverpool travelled to Turkey seeking to reignite a frustrating second campaign under their Dutch manager, having previously sat atop the domestic table when they last visited in October.
The Reds must now overturn the deficit when Galatasaray visit Anfield next Wednesday.

Mario Lemina gave the hosts the lead just seven minutes in, nodding home after Victor Osimhen won the initial header from Gabriel Sara’s corner delivery.
The former Southampton midfielder found himself completely unmarked, drifting away from Dominik Szoboszlai and Virgil van Dijk to convert.
At the interval, Joe Hart was scathing about Liverpool’s defensive organisation.
“Liverpool have looked shaky,” Hart said. “[Alexis] Mac Allister ends up marking Osimhen. I don’t know what has gone on there. Lemina ghosts off the back of [Dominik] Szoboszlai and [Virgil] van Dijk and he cant believe his luck.”
Steve McManaman echoed those concerns: “In the air, defensively, Liverpool have been really vulnerable. It is an awful goal to concede.

“Osimhen is the most dangerous player on the pitch in a Galatasaray shirt. [Ibrahima] Konate isn’t picking anyone up and other players have fallen asleep.”
Liverpool had started brightly and should have capitalised on Galatasaray’s shaky attempts to play out from the back.
Florian Wirtz, returning after missing three matches, squandered an excellent opportunity early on, firing wide when well placed.
McManaman was unimpressed with the German’s effort: “It is a great chance for [Florian] Wirtz. I can’t quite explain how good of a chance. And the finish is just really weak. He doesn’t threaten the goal, it is yards wide.”
The forward had another opportunity shortly afterwards but again failed to trouble goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir.
Mohamed Salah struggled to make any meaningful contribution throughout the contest, while the team’s overall approach appeared laboured and overly intricate for such an intense atmosphere.

The video assistant referee played a significant role for both teams during the encounter.
Ibrahima Konate believed he had drawn Liverpool level from a set piece, only for the officials to rule the goal out after determining he had handled the ball.
The French defender was fortunate at the opposite end when Osimhen fired past Giorgi Mamardashvili, who deputised for the injured Alisson Becker, but the strike was chalked off due to Baris Yilmaz straying offside in the build-up.
Hugo Ekitike came closest to salvaging a draw for the visitors, outmanoeuvring Davinson Sanchez before being denied by a superb stop from Cakir.
Galatasaray supporters will be absent from Anfield for the return fixture following disciplinary action relating to firework incidents during their play-off tie against Juventus in Turin.
