I audibly gasped when I read this news. One of literature’s favourite and oldest gothic novels, Dracula is getting the audible treatment, and yes, Jonathan Bailey is voicing the titular character.
Admittedly, my mind went straight to hearing Bailey with a Translyvanian accent – no thanks to Sesame Street ingraining Count Von Count’s voice in my head. But after hearing about a second of Bailey’s sweet yet intimidating Dracula voice in the trailer, I was instantly excited. It’s a tale as old as time, but trust us, you’re going to want to fall asleep to this story every night.

Who else is cast?
Besides the formidable Jonathan Bailey as Dracula himself, Ella Purnell plays the beautiful Mina, whose husband Jonathan Harker is voiced by Louis Partridge. Other cast members include Aimee Lou Wood, Lesley Manville, David Jonsson and Maggie Gyllenhaal. And directing the cast is Mary Lambert, most known for directing Pet Sematary. Ilan Eshkeri is behind the score.
To top it all off, Dracula will be adapted into seven languages –English Castilian Spanish, German, Italian, LATAM Spanish, and Brazilian Portugese. Each version will have its own local all-star cast.
Will it follow the original Bram Stoker Dracula story?
Don’t worry, it won’t be straying far from the original text. Think of the adaptation as having a bit more drama than the original 1800s text would have – all in the spirit of making it more immersive for the audio experience.
The story will follow Mina, who tries to solve the disappearance of her fiancé, Jonathan Harker, through fragments of letters, diaries, and testimonies. But her thunt the mysterious predator that has taken her loved one only leads to her finding out that the very same predator is already hunting her. When Mina’s best friend, Lucy, succumbs to the predator’s thrall, Professor Van Helsing is called to wage war on this threat. But with her intelligence, Mina resolves who has the key to stopping this predator and where he might be.

Just in time for Halloween – Dracula will premiere on Audible on 1 October 2026.
