Last Call Just Got Later During the World Cup For Some Boston Bars

Raise your glass, night owls.  Some Boston bars will be granted 3 a.m. last call licenses during the World Cup.

Mayor Michelle Wu announced on Tuesday that Boston bars and restaurants with existing 2 a.m. liquor licenses can apply to stay open until 3 am. during the FIFA World Cup period, thanks to a temporary state law signed by Governor Maura Healey.

The extension is designed to accommodate the influx of visitors expected in Boston throughout the tournament. Establishments that currently close at 1 a.m. or earlier can also apply to extend their hours by one additional hour, though they will not be eligible to stay open until 3 a.m.

The temporary extended hours will be available through July as Boston gears up to host World Cup matches and soccer fans from around the globe.

We’ll keep you posted as to who gets the late last call. Stay tuned.
