A seething Ahmad Reda wants Jake Wyllie’s pay packet after the “embarrassing” Queenslander missed weight for their lightweight battle in Sydney.
The more experienced Wyllie weighed more than two kilograms heavier than the 61kg limit, but the up-and-coming Reda doesn’t want to miss his opportunity on the main card headlined by heavyweights Paul Gallen and Nelson Asofa-Solomona.
Reda, 23, is adamant he’ll take the fight and his perfect 9-0 record will improve after the 10-round bout.

“The fight’s going ahead, I’m taking the fight. I believe he was looking for a way out … he looks scared,” the Sydney-based Reda told the media after their face-off.
“He probably thought I was going to say, ‘no, I don’t want to fight him’. I’ll fight anyone.
“He shouldn’t be getting paid for that. That’s embarrassing.”
Wyllie has 19 wins to his name, and his last loss came by decision after going the distance with the former lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr in 2025, but promoter George Rose was anything but happy after the weigh-in fiasco unfolded.
“Two kilos he’s missed the weight by, very unprofessional … very disappointing,” Rose said after the two fighters faced off.
“This was shaping up to be a fantastic fight. We just want this to be a fair fight as well.
“I’d love to see Ahmad get his chance to show everyone that he’s the best in the division.”

Both camps reached an agreement that Wyllie is only permitted to add an extra 10 pounds (4.5kg) of weight before the two step into the ring.
Wyllie declined media interviews after the weigh-in.
