Patriots sign Hunter Henry to an extension: One of Drake Maye’s most reliable options in the Patriots‘ offense is set to stick around for a little while longer.
Hunter Henry, 31, has agreed to a two-year contract extension with the Patriots, per NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the extension is worth $16 million, and could range up to $20 million. It includes $14.5 million in guaranteed money, and a signing bonus worth $4.2 million.
Now a decade into his NFL career, Henry has become a vital part of New England’s offense. Since signing with the Patriots as a free agent in 2021 (Henry spent the first five years of his career with the Chargers), he has hauled in 259 catches and 26 touchdowns.
When Maye became the starter in 2024, Henry’s availability helped the young quarterback develop on the NFL stage. The Patriots seem intent on preserving that reliable safety valve for the team’s emerging leader.
The Patriots shared a photo of Henry signing the new deal, but did not share specific terms:

The Red Sox lost to the Athletics 4-3 on Sunday, as Oakland won the series (taking two of three). It’s the first time the Red Sox haven’t won a series in almost two months.
Tonight, the Red Sox begin a four-game series in Toronto against the Blue Jays at 7:07 p.m.
Also on Sunday, Legacy FC fell 4-3 to the Portland Thorns at Centreville Bank Stadium. After yielding three early goals, Boston rallied to make it a one-goal game late, but the full comeback proved a bridge too far.
On Thursday, football continues its return, as the Patriots will open their preseason slate at Gillette Stadium against the Colts at 7:30 p.m.
