Human remains believed to be those of missing Queensland mother Jana Armstrong have been found in bushland roughly an hour out of Toowoomba.

Queensland Police said officers located the remains at Redbank Creek on Saturday night and declared a crime scene.

While formal identification is yet to be completed, investigators believe the remains are those of the 30-year-old, who was reported missing after she was last seen at her Newtown home on July 7.

A 48-year-old Harristown man has been charged with one count of murder (domestic violence offence) and is due to face Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Monday.
