How Australia’s TV networks will mark Thursday’s National Day of Mourning

Australian television networks will pause at 7.01pm AEDT on Thursday night to observe a minute of silence, uniting across news, sport and entertainment schedules as part of the National Day of Mourning.

The commemoration follows the Bondi Junction attack in December, which claimed the lives of fifteen people, injured two police officers and many others, and deeply impacted communities across the country.

A National Day of Mourning was announced to honour the victims, survivors and first responders, with Anthony Albanese making the request for broadcasters to observe a minute of silence during a press conference on Sunday, 18 January.
