As we head into the final weeks of the school term in Haiti, Health for Haiti is grateful for the success of our recent projects to serve and support the school.
We have been excited to follow the progress of our school meal program. The cafeteria continues to provide hot meals to the students, helping them stay healthy and better focused on their education. We have received rave reviews from students and parents. The students always express joy when receiving their meals, while parents are deeply thankful for this support because it reduces the major food insecurity stress impacting so many of the local families. The cafeteria has become a true blessing for the many children who might not otherwise have access to a proper meal during the day.
All meals are prepared under good hygienic conditions. The cafeteria staff continues to work with discipline, love, and responsibility to ensure that everything runs smoothly and peacefully. We have also observed improved school attendance!
Our community garden continues to produce crops are used by the school to provide meals. Revenue from sale of some of the produce also supports the school cafeteria program. The income generated from the garden plays an important role in maintaining the school meal program and encouraging hope for the future of each child who attends our school.
And we are most excited to share that the first phase of the construction of the long awaited school bathroom has begun!
We are thrilled to see this project, long identified as a priority by the community, finally becoming a reality. Thanks to the support and collaboration of everyone involved, the work is moving forward step by step in a good direction.
At part of this first phase, some of the construction materials are available on site, and the pit for the septic system has been dug. This work represents an important step in the preparation process.
The community continues to show great motivation and commitment to seeing this project completed. We can all understand the importance of proper sanitation facilities for the health and dignity of everyone, especially the children who are students at the school.
“We sincerely thank all those who have already contributed and supported this initiative. We continue to count on the solidarity and generosity of partners and donors to help us successfully complete this important project,” says School Principal, Pastor Berlando.
We are now raising funds for phase two of the school bathroom project. Thank you to all of the Health for Haiti donors who, despite the desperate instability and ongoing humanitarian crisis in Haiti, continue to support the projects that are positively impacting hundreds of children and their families in rural Haiti. We are so grateful for your kindness and generosity!
